How to Add Sermons from SermonAudio to Your Website [EASY]

SermonAudio is a popular platform for hosting and sharing sermons with almost 3 million sermons posted since its inception in the year 2000. That said, there’s much confusion when it comes to how to add those sermons on your church website, which is what we hope to clear up for you today!

It probably goes without saying, but recording your sermons and publishing them on your site for your congregation to listen to is extremely important. According to Pew Research, ~25% of US adults are listening to sermons online these days. But how do you actually put them on your website, and is there an easy method to do so? Here are 3 simple ways:

Option 1: Embed without WordPress (Standard Websites)

1. Go to the sermon page on SermonAudio. For example: https://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=427082318128

2. Click on the “Embed” button.

3. Navigate to either the “Video” or “Audio” tab depending on which format you’re looking for, and click “COPY” in the bottom left-hand side of the popup:

An example of the copied code can be seen below:

<iframe tabindex="-1" width="100%" height="150" src="https://embed.sermonaudio.com/player/a/427082318128/" style="min-width: 150px;" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

4. Paste the code you copied from step 3 into your website. The end result can be seen below:

Option 2: Embed with WordPress

A SermonAudio announcement from 2013 gives some steps to install their plugin which allows you to more easily embed your sermons from SermonAudio onto WordPress. From what we can tell, that plugin is largely outdated (it was last updated ~10 years ago) and the suggested way is now via the embed that you saw above.

That said, if you’re going to take this approach, we suggest a few different steps and a slightly different approach.

1. Create a “Sermons” page within your admin dashboard on WordPress by going to “Pages” and clicking “Add New Page”:

This will create a new webpage at yourchurchdomain.com/sermons which looks great for your users. From there, you can add the page to your menu so that it’s accessible from your homepage.

2. Click the “Embed” button while on SermonAudio like in the non-WordPress example, except this time click on the “Browser” tab. Notice that there are also various “DISPLAY OPTIONS” that you can edit to make it appear more like your site. Unfortunately there are limited options when it comes to styling, but there is some built in searching functionality which is quite nice.

An example of the copied code is seen below:

<iframe tabindex="-1" width="1" height="540" src="https://embed.sermonaudio.com/browser/broadcaster/tenth/?sort=newest&page_size=25" style="min-width: 100%; max-width: 100%; " allow="autoplay" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

3. Copy the iframe URL in the bottom left-hand corner and paste it into your “Sermons” page by selecting “Add Block” >> “Custom HTML” >> and then pasting the code into that block (as seen below):

wordpress add block for sermon audio embed
wordpress add custom code block for sermonaudio embed

Paste into the box as seen below:

wordpress paste sermonaudio embed code

Option 3: Embed via Automatic Updates (A Simpler Way)

Here at SolaSites we’ve developed a custom plugin that easily integrates with your SermonAudio account and automatically pulls in the latest sermons to your website. The great thing is, there’s no work involved with this approach! This makes your sermons easily viewable & searchable for users that are on your website, and looks great too because it matches the styling of your current WordPress theme (see below):
